Legacy Session for Miller | End-of-Life Pet Photography in Cincinnati
I saw the post in a local Facebook group.
Miller’s family was looking for someone to take a few photos.
Nothing fancy—just something simple before they said goodbye.
It was only a few weeks after we’d said goodbye to our own dog, Niko.
And something about that post—the timing, the tenderness—I just knew.
I didn’t hesitate. I reached out.
Miller had lived a full life.
He was an old soul, the kind of dog whose eyes told whole stories.
There wasn’t sadness in this goodbye, not really.
Just the quiet kind of love that shows up when it’s time to let go well.
The next day, Miller would go for a walk.
He’d eat Skyline coneys, jam out to rock and roll,
and spend every last moment the way he always had—surrounded by love.
This night was calm. Just him and his people, out on the porch.
No poses. No fuss. Just being together.
These kinds of sessions aren’t about the photos.
They’re about the permission to pause.
To say, “This mattered.”
To remember how a dog filled the corners of a home, a lap, a life.
I’m not sure Miller’s people knew how much this session meant to me, too.
But I’m grateful they trusted me with it.
If you’ve ever loved a dog, you know:
It’s never just a pet. It’s family.
And when it’s time to say goodbye, sometimes a photo helps hold the weight.
I’ll always show up for that.
